Duty Bound

King Zephyr Faulkes. King of Geofek and the Western Aishal territories. He's in Fractured Entity.

Simply put, Zephyr is Geofek. He might have once had a personality, maybe been a softer man, but after years on the throne he has eroded like the mountains and turned jagged. He's a stern man, with an unwavering stubbornness and ruthful nature. He's not the best family man, but taking care of the princess is not his duty. His duty is to take care of Geofek and look out for her best interests. Now he's dealing with a war between Yman, and he is determined to win it. Even if that means he has to raze all of Aishal, he'll do it.

I think this is one of the best portraits I've ever done. I struggled with aging Zephyr for a while. I wanted to keep his sharp features, but still make him look older and very set in his ways. I hope that came across. Other than just drawing him, I loved designing his crown. The Georn people love and revere Gryphons. They're loyal and powerful creatures, and only certain members of society are allowed to own and breed them. The Royal Family, of course, has several gryphons. Zephyr's favorite is a golden eagle/leopard mix named Titan. This is probably the most interesting and fun outfit I've made. :}
